Tom Hannah is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Shannon. He has been serving as Pastor since August 1997. He was saved and called to preach while under the leadership of S.J. Campbell at Sparks Gap Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Alabama (1991) and University of Alabama at Birmingham (1995). He married his loving, supporting wife, Valeria, on July 1, 1994. They have one wonderful dog named GooberNug.
In addition to serving as Pastor of our church, Tom is also employed by the Jefferson County Board of Education. He is currently a teacher/coach at Oak Grove High School. Tom has also taught and coached at Hueytown High School, Pleasant Grove High School and Gardendale High School.
Brad Robertson is the Associate/Youth Pastor of First Baptist Church of Shannon. He first came to Shannon First Baptist as a four year old child. He was invited by the VBS director, Elaine Holley to come to Vacation Bible School. It changed his life! That was 1985. His family fell in love with the church and its people. He too loved and adored the members of the church and the songs they sang, several years later he fell in love with the one they were singing about.
He was saved on a Sunday night in 1994. In 2004, he surrendered to God’s call to preach the gospel. He was ordained in 2006. He has been given the great opportunity to preach and fill in at various churches. In addition to associate pastor, he serves as the youth minister, Sunday School superintendent, singing chairman, and Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher.
Brad also teaches tenth and twelfth grade history at Gardendale High School. He is married to Allison Robertson, a nurse at Brookwood Hospital. They live next to the church in Shannon with their two dogs, Thelma Lou and Saban.
